With a Broadway style score, eye popping production and a great cast Theatre 29 is inviting Morongo Basin families, especially with young children, to their upcoming production of Rapunzel.
The story of the girl with the really long hair who is locked in a tower by an evil witch and who later meets and falls in love with a handsome prince is getting first class treatment in production and writing talent.
The show is written by the team responsible for the TV show, Friends. David Crane and Marta Kauffman (Book and Lyrics) and Michael Skloff (Music) have created a Broadway style score with clever titles like “Me, My Hair and I” and a song about letting go that speaks to all parents called, “Growing Up.”
Theatre 29 has named a very talented cast of adult performers for the family-oriented production.
The title role of Rapunzel (and supporting characters) will be played by Anna Pollnow. With her infectious smile and great singing voice there is no way to not root for this heroine.
Prince Brian will be portrayed by Noah Wahlberg, his clear singing and professionalism has made him a favorite onstage and backstage.
As the Witch, Britney Vachon-LaGuardia brings her high talent level and experience at regional theaters to the Rapunzel cast. All she needs to do is give a “Twist of the wrist and a turn of her ring”.
John Pollnow as Simon the prince’s assistant (and other characters) shows his range of versatility. Pollnow’s sense of comic timing will make him a favorite with young audiences.
As the Storyteller and wigmaker Jennifer Langdon brings a wry sense of humor to the ensemble. Jennifer will join her daughter, Maryam Langdon, who takes the stage in a delightful cameo while running the spotlight for the show.
Veteran and favorite Joe Rego brings his versatility, humor, and energy to the show as the King (and other supporting characters).
The 75-minute one-act musical is directed by DTL award-winning Director Gary Daigneault assisted by first-time Music Director Ron Bottorff and veteran Choreographer Lisa Goldberg. The costuming will be designed by Tera Bottorff and the Assistant Director is Cindy Daigneault. Rounding out the crew are Assistant to the Director Cam D’Angeles and Stage Manager Tim Corvin. Michelle Alley, Jori Crane, Rae Noble and Doug Knox complete the support staff.
For kids and parents alike, Rapunzel at Theatre 29 provides so many wonderful things. With a great message for kids, a talented cast, stellar production concept and a fantastic score this is one that the whole family will enjoy and hopefully tell others to attend.
